LOCAL SCHOOLS

The A+ School Rewards program allows local schools to earn cash for technology, scholarship programs, library books, field trips and summer programs. Every time customers shop using their BonusCard, GIANT and MARTIN'S donates 1% of participating customers' total purchases to designated schools. While only offered in a portion of our market area, more than $4.6 million has been donated to over 1,400 local schools since the program began in 2004.

CORPORATE AND STORE DONATIONS

GIANT and MARTIN'S store managers are empowered to provide financial assistance for organizations in their local community. They donate product and time to schools, Boy and Girl Scouts, local Fire Departments, and other worthwhile causes.

At GIANT and MARTIN'S, we provide a program for non-profit organizations to raise funds throughout the year. Our gift cards can be purchased at a 5% discount and then sold to their members at face value. What a great tool for organizations to use to meet their financial goals for worthy projects in their communities!

SUPPORT THE TROOPS - USO

In recent years, GIANT and MARTIN'S associates wanted to support the men and women who are bravely serving in the Armed Forces. Customers were invited to donate $1 at the checkout toward their regional USO, an organization dedicated to programs that build morale and keep soldiers connected to their families. Each year, we present a check to our regional USOs at a patriotic Support the Troops rally on the steps of the Pennsylvania State Capitol. To date, more than $415,000 has been raised.

In order to make the holidays a little brighter for our troops, we reach out several times a year to the family members of our associates who are serving overseas in the military. Understanding the hardship of being away from loved ones, we send care packages of toiletries, sweets, beverage mixes, soups and microwavable meals. We have received many wonderful letters of thanks and will continue these efforts until our young men and women have returned home safely.

MULTI-CULTURAL EDUCATION AND AWARENESS

Celebrating our diverse cultural heritage is important at GIANT and MARTIN'S. We honor holidays and cultural heritage months with in-store activities and community events to increase awareness and understanding among the communities we serve.

We also join in community celebrations like Cinco de Mayo by hosting in-store performances by Latino bands and native dancers. We stock our shelves with products associated with special holidays and observances.
